Frequently asked questions

What you should know

Ten common questions about EMOI Hanoi — opening hours, address, the room, the food, the music, seating areas, birthday bookings and parking. Call +84 905 806 704 for anything else.

01What are EMOI Hanoi's opening hours?

+

According to the restaurant's Google profile, EMOI is open from 6 PM to 12:30 AM every day of the week, weekends included. Hours may change on public holidays — call +84 905 806 704 before you head out.

02Where is EMOI located?

+

EMOI is at No. 63 Ham Long Street — part of Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi since 1 July 2025 (formerly Hang Bai Ward, Hoan Kiem District), about 1 km from Hoan Kiem Lake. Search 'Emoi Izakaya' on Google Maps for the exact spot.

03How do I reserve a table at EMOI?

+

Book by hotline on +84 905 806 704, on Zalo at the same number, or through the form on this website. Reservations are free with no deposit, and the team calls back to confirm within 15 minutes.

04What kind of place is EMOI?

+

EMOI is a Japanese-style izakaya: paper lanterns lettered in Japanese fill the ceiling, one wall is covered with hundreds of wooden ema plaques carrying guests' wishes, and there is a shrine roof lined with red lights, ukiyo-e paper fans and rows of velvet sofas behind brass-slat railings. Staff wear blue happi coats trimmed in orange.

05What food does EMOI serve?

+

According to listings for the restaurant: sashimi, tuna nigiri, seafood gunkan, seafood hand rolls, teriyaki eel, wagyu carpaccio and grilled skewers, plus a seasonal menu every quarter with a Vietnamese twist. Message +84 905 806 704 on Zalo for the latest menu.

06What music does EMOI play?

+

The soundtrack is 1980s Japanese city pop, jazz and soul — easy to talk over — with live DJ sets when the room picks up. Every now and then a costumed act parades down the aisle too.

07What seating areas does EMOI have?

+

Based on the room in the restaurant's photos there are four options: velvet sofas behind the railing for small groups, long tables under the lanterns for big groups, the ema plaque wall corner, and birthday set-ups. Call +84 905 806 704 for advice on seating for your group size.

08Does EMOI take birthday bookings?

+

Yes — it is what the place is known for. Staff open a Happy Birthday paper fan, hold up a light board and get the whole room clapping and singing along. Book at least a day ahead so the team can set up a table for your group.

09Where can I park at EMOI?

+

Motorbikes park right in front of the restaurant; cars can use a paid car park nearby. From the Old Quarter or the hotels around Hoan Kiem Lake it is only a few minutes by taxi.

10When is the best time to arrive?

+

Doors open at 6 PM; book ahead if you want a sofa or a spot by the ema wall. Friday and Saturday evenings and nights with several birthday parties tend to fill up first. Late-evening service is for guests aged 18 and over.
